Surrounded by the poverty of post-communist Romania a naïve young woman seizes the opportunity to migrate to England, even if it means being smuggled in a cardboard box in the back of a furniture van. However, her dreams of wealth and opportunity are shattered by the reality of urban life in London. Having traded one life of poverty for another and desperate to help her loved ones Dora seizes on any chance to better her lot.
Produced by 28 Films Ltd in association with AVAnti Productions,
D'ORA is an honest, compelling film, chronicling a young woman's attempt to escape from oppression and pursue her dreams. Dora's journey traps her in a world where her innocence is corrupted. She risks everything for the ones she loves in the hope for a better future. D'ORA is a haunting yet sweet story that brings to light some of the most pressing issues people face in today's globalised world.
After three years in the making, 28 Films & AVAnti Productions are happy to announce the UK release of D'ORA, the first Romanian independent feature length film produced in the UK, with a Premere at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly and further screenings in Curzon cinemas.
